Meth Use and Symptoms - What Are the Signs and Symptoms of Methamphetamine Use?

Speed, meth, chalk. In its smoked form, it is often referred to as ice, crystal, crank, or glass. Those are all street names for methamphetamine (mAMP). Call it what you may, but meth use and its symptoms are one in the same. If it's taken in large doses, methamphetamine's frequent effects are irritability, aggressive behavior, anxiety, excitement, auditory hallucinations, and paranoia along with delusions and psychosis. Meth abusers tend to be violent. Mood changes are also common, and the abuser can rapidly change from friendly to hostile. The paranoia produced by methamphetamine abuse results in suspiciousness, hyperactive behavior, and dramatic mood swings.

Meth appeals to drug abusers because it increases the body's metabolism and produces euphoria, increases alertness, and gives the abuser a sense of increased energy. High doses or chronic use of meth, however, increases nervousness, irritability, and paranoia. The extreme paranoia that meth abusers can experience is often associated with a distorted tendency toward violence. Adverse consequences of meth abuse include the risk of stroke, heart failure, and prolonged psychosis.

Methamphetamine use has three patterns: low intensity, binge, and high intensity.

Meth Use and Symptoms - What Are the Signs and Symptoms of Methamphetamine Use?

Low-intensity abuse describes a user who is not psychologically addicted to the drug and who administers the drug by swallowing or snorting it. Binge and high-intensity abusers are psychologically addicted and prefer to smoke or inject meth to achieve a faster and stronger high. The binge and high-intensity patterns of abuse differ in the frequency in which the drug is abused. While the binge pattern of abuse has seven stages within its cycle: rush, high, binge, tweaking, crash, normal, and withdrawal-the high-intensity abuse pattern usually does not include a state of normalcy or withdrawal.

"Tweakers", which are referred to those who are at the most dangerous state of meth abuse, is a meth user who is tweaking. This meth abuser probably has not slept in 3-15 days and, consequently, the symptoms would be irritability and paranoia. A tweaker does not need provocation to behave or react violently, but confrontation increases the chances of a violent reaction. If the tweaker is using alcohol, his negative feelings and associated dangers intensify.

Several hours after the last meth use, the individual experiences a drastic drop in mood and energy levels. Sleep begins and may last for a long period and, upon awakening, severe depression exists that may last for days. While users are in this depressed state, suicide is a major concern. These meth abuse symptoms occur after meth use and may be reversed by taking another dose of methamphetamine, thereby fitting the definition for a withdrawal syndrome.

Now, get out your pen and paper and take notes if you see these short term effects in your teenager or loved one. Short term meth abuse symptoms are increased alertness, sense of well-being, paranoia, intense high, hallucinations, aggressive behavior, increased heart rate, convulsions, extreme rise in body temperature (as high as 108 degrees which can cause brain damage and death), uncontrollable movements (twitching, jerking, etc...), violent behavior, insomnia, impaired speech, dry and itchy skin, premature aging, rotting teeth, loss of appetite, acne, sores and numbness.

Some of the effects that meth abuse has on the mind are also symptoms of meth use. These meth use symptoms are disturbed sleep, excessive excitation, excessive talking, panic, anxiousness, nervousness, moodiness and irritability, false sense of confidence and power, delusions of grandeur leading to aggressive behavior, uninterested in friends, sex, or food, aggressive and violent behavior, and severe depression.

After excessive meth abuse, there are long term effects as well, such as fatal kidney and lung disorders, possible brain damage, depression, hallucinations, disorganized lifestyle, permanent psychological problems, violent and aggressive behavior, weight loss, insomnia, behavior resembling paranoid schizophrenia, decreased social life, malnutrition, poor coping abilities, disturbance of personality development, lowered resistance to illnesses, liver damage, stroke and the inevitable, death.

There are also withdrawal symptoms that a meth abuser will partake in when coming off of meth or "crashing". If you see the symptoms of severe cravings, insomnia, restlessness, mental confusion or depression, chances are that the meth is exiting their system.

If you have been watching your teenager or loved one and your suspicians are pointing into the direction of meth abuse and you are seeing the symptoms of meth abuse, don't ignore them. Go with your instincts and in a loving and caring manner, let your teen or loved one know that you will help them seek the counseling they need to rid themselves of meth or any other drug abuse.. If you continue to see the signs and symptoms of meth use, you may either want to take your teen or loved one to his/her doctor or other medical professional and ask them to screen for the use of illegal substances. If you're not comfortable with revealing your suspicions to an outsider, it is also possible to screen your teenager or loved one in the privacy of your own home with home urine drug testing kits, saliva drug testing kits and hair drug testing kits.

Balancing Your Work, Family and Social Life

Balancing Your Work, Family and Social Life
By Gene Griessman, PhD

Many of us have an image of personal balance as a set of scales in perfect balance every day. But that's an unrealistic goal. You are in for a lot of frustration if you try to allocate within every day a predetermined portion of time for work, family and your social life.  An illness may upset all your plans. A business project may demand peaks of intense work, followed by valleys of slow time.
Balance requires continual adjustments, like an acrobat on a high wire who constantly shifts his weight to the right and to the left. By focusing on four main areas of your life - emotional/spiritual needs, relationships, intellectual needs and physical needs - at work and away from  work, you can begin to walk the high wire safely.
Here, drawn from my conversations with many high successful Americans, are ten ideas for balancing all aspects of your life:
1.      Make an appointment with yourself. Banish from your mind the idea that everyone takes precedence over you. Don't use your organizer or calendar just for appointments with others. Give yourself some prime time. Regularly  do something you enjoy. It will recharge your batteries. Once you've put yourself on your calendar, guard those appointments. Kay Koplovitz founder of the USA cable television network, which is on the air 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 52 weeks a year. Koplovitz ran the daily operations of the network for 21 years. For more than two decades, there was always some potential claim on her time. Therefore she vigilantly protected a scheduled tennis match just as she would a business appointment.
2.      Care for your body. Having a high energy level is a trait held by many highly successful people. No matter what your present level of energy, you can increase it by following these steps:
Eat. Don't skip meals. Your physical and mental energy depend upon nourishment. Irregular eating patterns can cause a frayed temper, depression, lack of creativity and a nervous stomach.
Exercise. Over and over again, highly successful people mention the benefit of exercise routines. Johnetta Cole, president of Bennett College for Women and former president of Spelman College, does a four-mile walk each morning. She calls it her mobile meditation. The benefits of exercise are mental, emotional, physical and spiritual. If you are healthier and have more stamina, you can work better and longer.
Rest. A psychologist who has studied creative people reports that they rest often and sleep a lot.
3.      Cut some slack. You do not have to do everything. Just the right things. Publisher Steve Forbes taught me a lesson: "Don't be a slave to your in-box. Just because there's something there doesn't mean you have to do it." As a result, every evening, I extract from my long list to-do list just a few "musts" for the following day. If, but three o'clock the next day, I've crossed off all the "musts," I know that everything else I do that day will be icing on the cake. It is a great psychological plus for me.
There is nothing wrong with pushing yourself hard, disciplining yourself to
do what needs to be done when you hold yourself to the highest standards. That builds up stamina and turns you into a pro. At time, though, you must forgive yourself. You will never become 100 percent efficient, nor should you expect to be. After something does not work, ask yourself, "Did I do my best? If you did, accept the outcome. All you can do is all you can do.
4.      Blur the boundaries. Some very successful people achieve balance by setting aside times or days for family, recreation, hobbies or the like. They create boundaries around certain activities and protect them. Other individuals who are just as successful do just the opposite. They blur the boundaries. Says consultant Alan Weiss, "I work out of my home. In the afternoon, I might be watching my kids play at the pool or be out with my wife. On Saturday, or at ten o'clock on a weeknight, I might be working. I do things when the spirit moves me, and when they're appropriate."
Some jobs don't lend themselves to this strategy. But blurring the boundaries is possible more often than you may think. One way is to involve people you care about in what you do. For example, many companies encourage employees to bring their spouses to conferences and annual meetings. It's a good idea. If people who mean a great deal to you understand what you do, they can share more fully in your successes and failures. They also are more likely to be a good sounding board for your ideas.
5.      Take a break. Many therapists believe that taking a break from a work routine can have major benefits for mental and physical health. Professional speaker and executive coach Barbara Pagano practices a kind of quick charge, by scheduling a day every few months with no agenda. For her, that means staying in her pajamas, unplugging the phone, watching old movie or reading a novel in bed. For that one day, nothing happens, except what she decides from hour to hour. Adds singer and composer Billy Joel, "There are times when you need to let the field lie fallow." Joel is describing what farmers often do: let a plot rest so the soil can replenish itself.
6.      Take the road less traveled. Occasionally, get off the expressway and take a side road, literally and figuratively. That road may take you to the library or to the golf course. Do something out of the ordinary to avoid the well-worn grooves of your life. Try a new route to work, a different radio station or a different cereal. Break out of your old mold occasionally, with a new way to dress or a different hobby. The road less traveled can be a reward after a demanding event, a carrot that you reward your self with or it can be a good way to loosen up before a big event. Bobby Dodd, the legendary football coach at Georgia Tech, knew the power of this concept. While other coaches were putting their teams through brutal twice-a-day practices, Dodd's team did their drills and practices, but then took time to relax, play touch football and enjoy the bowl sites. Did the idea work? In six straight championships games!
7.      Be still. Susan Taylor, editorial director of Essence, sees to it that she has quiet time every morning. She regards it as a time for centering - for being still and listening. She keeps a paper and pen with her to jot down ideas that come to her. The way you use solitary time should match your values, beliefs and temperament. Some individuals devote a regular time each day to visualize themselves attaining their goals and dreams. Others read, pray, meditate, do yoga or just contemplate a sunrise or sunset. Whatever form it takes, time spent alone can have an enormous payoff. Achievers talk about an inner strength they find and how it helps them put competing demands into perspective. They feel more confident about their choices and more self-reliant. They discover a sense of balance, a centeredness.
8.      Be a peacetime patriot. Joe Posner has achieved wealth and recognition selling life insurance. Several years ago, Posner helped form an organization in his hometown of Rochester, NY to prepare underprivileged children for school and life and, he hopes, break the poverty cycle. You may find some equally worthy way to give something back through your church, hospital, civic club, alumni association or by doing some pro bono work. Or you may help individuals privately, even anonymously. There are powerful rewards for balancing personal interests with the needs of the common good. One of the most wonderful is the sheer joy that can come from giving. Another  reward is the better world that you help create.
9.      Do what you love to do. As a boy, Aaron Copeland spent hours listening to his sister practice the piano because he loved music. By following that love, he became America's most famous composer of classical must. When I asked him years later if he had even been disappointed by that choice Copeland replied, "My life has been enchanting." What a word to sum up a life. By itself, loving what you do does not ensure success. You need to be good at what you love. But if you love what you do, the time you spend becoming competent is less likely to be drudgery.
10.  Focus on strategy. As important as it is, how to save time for balancing your life is not the ultimate question. That question is, "What am I saving time for?" Strategy has to do with being successful - but successful at what? If others pay your salary, being strategic generally means convincing them that you are spending your time in a way that benefits them. If there is a dispute over how you should use your time, either convince the people who can reward or punish you that your idea about using time is appropriate, or look for another job. The "what for?" question should also be asked about the life you live. It is truly a comprehensive question and gets at the question of wholeness.

So what makes for a successful balance life? I can think of no better definition than the one given by Ralph Waldo Emerson:
To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and to endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because I have lived. This is to have succeeded.

The Advantages of Social Networking

It's great to have friends but you have to admit that there are certain interests you or they have, which neither is not interested in. When this happens, it is time to expand our circle and that is just one of the advantages of social networking.

Social networking enables people who share the same interests to hang out together and this simply means that you are able to make new friends. If for example you are interested in basketball, no one there will get tired of talking about the players or the game which occurred last night or several years ago.

Since most social networking is done over the web, you get to meet individuals from other countries and learn about their culture. How many people do you know keep in touch with someone across the Atlantic or the Pacific? Given that you share something in common, you get to communicate with that person regularly that is very similar to hooking up with your friends after work or school.

The Advantages of Social Networking

From a business point of view, the first two advantages of social networking enable you to meet new clients and expand your business because most of these sites allow you to customize your webpage and provide links to your personal website.

Just to give you a few examples, there is Multiply, MySpace, Friendster, Facebook and Classmates. With so many around, you won't have a hard time looking for a social network that you like. You can even post ads here so you can inform other members of an event that you are hosting.

The best part about becoming a member of a social network is that majority of these is free. This means that you don't have to pay any fees. All you have to do is sign up by filling up the form and then activating the link when this is sent to you via email. Now that you are a member, you can invite other friends to join and look at other profiles.

The advantages of social networking will allow you to make new friends, promote your business and best of all, won't cost you a thing. But there are some social networking sites that will require you to pay a fee. Before you sign up, consider if this value for your money.

Will social networking sites ever replace meeting people in social events and other gatherings? Of course not because all this medium does is give you more exposure. It allows you to put your best qualities out there especially when first impressions last.

When you join a social networking site, never post any private information about yourself unless you are ready to have people get in touch with you. You shouldn't also put anything embarrassing about yourself because some people have been denied employment because of the information posted.

If there are "privacy" settings in your social networking site, you are advised to use it so you can control who has access to your personal information.

A lot of experts say that social networking is here to stay so we have to take advantage of it. When you do join a social networking site, keep an open and see if this is exactly what you wanted. If not, cancel your account until you find the one that you like.

Find Birth Date by Social Security Number

The social security number is a very handy tool to detect identity theft and frauds due to concealment of vital information. You can find out all the details of an individual provided that you know the correct social security number associated with that particular individual.

The database associated with the social security number is the most authentic and reliable in terms of information provided. The numbers are assigned by the central office at the time of the birth of the person for all the citizens of the United States of America. Therefore, the database maintained by the central government under the social security department can help you find out the exact date of birth of any individual born in the United States of America by their SSN. This can be very helpful to people who tend to forget peoples birth dates that are close to them.

The information age, as the present era is known, there is very easy accessibility to various information with the help of computers and the World Wide Web network. These technologies have made life very easy for humans because you can access any information from anywhere in the world. All you need to search for is the correct authentic links. There are many websites that offer you a chance to find birth dates by SSN. If you have the SSN of the individual, then you can logon to any of these websites and access the database to find out the date of birth of the individual.

Global Vacations Network Scam - Is it One?

Global Vacations has been around for a long time. You can join them and have the ability to take luxury vacations and also sell memberships to others to make money. It is also called Global Resorts Network or GRN. There are many people that have made significant incomes with GRN.

The main issue with this type of opportunity is that it costs thousands of dollars. In the current recession/depression economy, it is increasingly difficult to find people that can spend 00 to join a home business opportunity. Marketing products that cost thousands of dollars is a great way to make a fabulous income quickly, but more people fail at those types of businesses than succeed and you end up with people feeling like you "scammed" them if you are the one that signed them up.

There is not a Global Vacations Network scam, but there are many people that failed that may feel like they were scammed. The truth is that they failed in that business because they were not able to effectively market the product and convert the leads they gathered into sales. GRN offers its members awesome tools to market the business, but many people just don't put forth the effort to stick with something to get to the point where they start to succeed.

Global Vacations Network Scam - Is it One?

That said, in today's economy it is much easier to market a consumable product at a lower price point. Network marketing companies are thriving today because more people are concerned about the stability of their employers or the safety of their 401k's. When people are concerned about their financial future, it is much easier to get them to look at a home business than it would be in more prosperous times.

Home network marketing businesses that have a solid product that people want, that is consumable and that interest you are probably one of the best home businesses that you could start. Joining a "high ticket" program like GRN is only advisable if you have a significant amount of time and/or a decent marketing budget to put into your business to get it to the point where you really make a significant income.

Perhaps the biggest key to success in any business that you join online is that your sponsor or their team has strong training and leadership. More people fail from having a lack of tools or inspirational leadership than for any other reason. Marketing online is not hard, but unless you know what you are doing you will flounder and spend your marketing dollars in ineffective ways.

If you don't have a significant marketing budget, then you need to learn how to use free or low cost marketing methods. These methods are very effective, but many of them require a significant effort and have a learning curve. If you have the time to put into a home business, the free methods of marketing are the most effective and provide significant gratification to people that use them.

Whose Phone Number Is This? Find Out Whose Phone Number This Is With Reverse Phone Lookup

You may receive a telephone call from a phone number you don't recognise, and will probably ask yourself, whose phone number is this - especially if you get several anonymous calls from the same phone number. Or perhaps you found a phone number on your spouse or partner's cell phone, or written down on a scrap of paper in their wallet or purse, and you're suspicious of who they might have been talking to. There are several reasons why you might want to find out whose phone number it is.

So, now you've got the phone number, how do you go about putting your mind to rest, or confirming your suspicions one way or another? Well, there are a few things you can do which don't cost anything.

The simplest one, if you're feeling brave enough, is to simply call the number and ask who it is. If you don't want to do this, and a lot of people wouldn't want to, then get a friend to call for you. If you're a girl, get a guy friend to call for you, and if you're a guy, yes, you guessed it, ask a female friend to call the phone number. It's much easier for someone of the same sex as the caller to make that sort of call without attracting the suspicions of the person at the other end. Of course, this method won't always work, especially if the person whose phone number it is doesn't want to be identified.

Whose Phone Number Is This? Find Out Whose Phone Number This Is With Reverse Phone Lookup

So, what next? Well, you could try Googling the number - you never know, you might get lucky, although it's a long shot. While you're on Google, it's probably a good idea to look for some free Reverse Phone Number lookup websites, and give those a try. There are a few of them around, and you might be lucky, but to be honest, the databases they use aren't that comprehensive, and if you think about it, would you give that sort of information away for free if people are prepared to pay for it? Probably not.

This brings us to the most effective way to find out who the number calling you belongs to. You'll need to use a paid Reverse Phone Number Lookup service. They only cost a few dollars, and they are much more reliable and comprehensive than the free services. Look at it this way. If you don't spend just a few bucks now, you could be worrying about the mystery phone number for quite a while, and causing yourself unnecessary stress, just for the sake of the price of a couple of movie tickets. Think about it - it's not that much to pay for peace of mind.

How to Make a Proper Introduction

Have you ever questioned your introduction skills? If not, you should since making a proper introduction is a form of business etiquette and sets the tone for how others will perceive you. Learning proper introductions not only enhances your business savvy but boosts your self-confidence.

Four years ago, I was meeting with my boss, awaiting our guest. As our guest arrived, I escorted her to meet the boss. I'm an astute business professional who has worked with U.S. Senators, dignitaries, and CEOs; however, at this moment of introduction, all confidence flew out the window. They were both VIPs in the world of business so who do I introduce first: man or woman, boss or guest, older or younger, tall or short?

Honestly, it was all a glaze as I failed to make a proper introduction while feeling like a dried up raisin in the sun. At that moment, I vowed to improve my business savvy and learn how to make a proper introduction to exude competency and confidence. Making a proper introduction demonstrates your level of acumen and respect for others.

How to Make a Proper Introduction

Like the old adage goes, "You never get a second chance to make a good first impression," which includes making a proper introduction. When you lose your self-confidence, it's conveyed in your posture, facial expressions, intonation, attitude, and demeanor, so even if people never tell you, which they won't, they recognize your mistakes and lack of confidence.

To avoid feeling socially awkward and to present a poised, polished, and professional image upon meeting and making introductions, here are eight guidelines to follow:

Introduce people in business based on rank, not gender or age.In business, the client, guest or visitor outranks the boss or co-worker and should be introduced first.Women and men should stand when introduced. Always smile and maintain eye contact.Shake a woman and man's hand the same, straight up and down. Extend a good, firm (not painful) handshake to exhibit respect, trust, and acceptance.Keep the forms of address equal to avoid differential treatment or the appearance of preferential treatment.Never use an honorific such as Ms., Mr., or Dr. to introduce yourself.Demonstrate professionalism and credibility by clearly stating your full name.Do not call a person by his or her first name when meeting or being introduced for the first time. Use their title and last name until invited to be on a first-name basis.

Maintaining a competitive edge in the business world differentiates you from the competition. The most important advice I can give you is to keep learning and enhancing your business and social skills to boost your success with etiquette.

Social Networking: Are You Giving People Too Much Information?

We all know that social networking has become huge over the last few years, but are some people taking too much of a risk with the new friends, fans, and followers they accept? Is the information that they make public more useful to some people than they might think?

Most people who go online are fairly sensible. They probably wouldn't tell passersby what they're planning to do during the day, and they certainly wouldn't tell them where they live so that they could take advantage of that information, yet people do it every day on social networking sites.

How often have you been on an amazing holiday and had to tell everyone on a social networking site all about it, as it was happening? That's the whole point about these kinds of sites, isn't it? You can share things with people as they're actually happening. But do you really know all that much about many of the people you're sharing this information with?

Social Networking: Are You Giving People Too Much Information?

There has always been a certain level of sophistication with your average criminal, and it won't have slipped their attention that people on the internet tend to do a lot of things that they wouldn't do normally, such as giving out personal information, and this is something that they can quite easily use.

Forget, for a moment, the things you may have seen on TV or in the movies about people hacking into accounts and taking over someone else's life; instead just think about what you may have been saying online. A bit worrying, isn't it? I don't mean some of the things you may have been saying about other people, just think about some of the "innocent" information you've been sharing with people.

A lot of users of social networking sites will accept people that they don't even know into their friends or fans lists, so how do they know they can trust them?

A number of stories have started to come to light that have made it clear that some of these so called "friends" are waiting until they know that people are definitely out of the house, and then going off to rob them. You really don't have to be a genius to be able to work out where someone lives, and then visit them when you know they're posting comments about how wonderful it is to be away from home on holiday; it takes all of the guess work out of it for the burglar.

So, don't just shrug off the warnings you're given about being online, and don't think that because you have 20,000 friends that all of them are your friend because of your wit, charm, and sparkling personality, some people have a far more profitable reason for being your friend.

Take the necessary precautions of not giving out too much information about yourself, and never give them a clue as to when your house is going to be empty. If you follow just those few small tips then you should be able to enjoy a safer experience when using social networking sites.
